Young dr delivers baby but at 2 week check up mom’s mouth falls when he says “I have something for you”

Having a baby is such a blessing, but it can also be quite nerve-wracking going for your first check up after finding out you’re pregnant.

If it’s your first child you have to get to know a doctor who at first is a stranger; it can be intimidating.

But by seeing the same doctor throughout your pregnancy you hopefully form a bond and when it’s time to deliver your baby, you feel confident in that doctor’s care.

Dr. Erik Bostrom, a family doctor from Minnesota, just loves to celebrate and honor the birth of babies which he’s helped to deliver into this world.

He takes the bond he forms with his patients and babies very seriously, but you would never guess just how incredibly thoughtful this man is and what he is willing to do just to make his patients happy…
Dr. Erik Bostrom is a 33-year old obstetrician at Riverwood Halthcare Center, Minnesota. Or actually, he isn’t an obstetrician. But in rural hospitals, delivering babies is part of a family doctor’s job.

He primarily help women in handling their pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum health safely and properly, but sometimes he finds time in his busy schedule to create a special gift for all the babies he delivers.

Erik is relatively newly educated and he’s wants to make good connections with his patients, not just by being a professional doctor to them but also by being thoughtful and generous in other ways.
He thought about what he could do for his patients and soon he got a brilliant idea: Why not make personalized blankets for all his newborn patients?
At the beginning, Dr Bostrom truly struggled with learning how to sew and embroider. It didn’t matter at all because he wanted to make his patients happy and to let them know that he really cares for them.

“I’ve sewn a lot of people, a lot of skin,” he said with a laugh. “But I never sewed fabric.”

But soon, his efforts of learning how to sew and embroider paid off!

One mom was overwhelmed by what Dr Bostrom presented her with when her baby was just a few weeks old.
Lacie Hietalati, who recently gave birth to a lovely daughter, could only be thankful for the wonderful and heartwarming gift that her baby received on their check-up visit.

It was such a lovely pink blanket!
Bostrom spends three to five hours on each blanket, with the embroidery typically using about 20,000 stitches. He sews several blankets at once, then adds the embroidery later.

This doctor really goes above and beyond, showing how much he cares about his tiny patients.
